What to expect

What to Expect?

Maybe you’ve been wondering what the plan is for Followers Church. When will we be starting? When will we be launching? Where are we planting the church? How is that going to work doing concurrent services?

About the plan

  • Our plan for the “Start Up” of Followers Church is to begin running concurrent services at 9:30AM on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Eastpoint Church, and expand to two services as necessary. This will give us time to cast vision, build up some momentum, and allow for people to check out Followers Church and pray about whether God wants them to be a part of it as we prepare to launch.
  • Our plan is that everyone will enter through the same lobby, get coffee and hang out while we wait for services to begin… You’re more than welcome to bring your own coffee but we’ll start brewing it early for you.
  • Our plan is to share the work and the benefit of “EP Kids” (Children’s Ministry). Meaning, those who are attending Followers Church will be encouraged to serve in one service and attend another so that those who have kids can drop them off and enjoy the service. Check-in is fast and easy even if you’re new. Keeping your kids with you is cool too but we want to eliminate distractions to you and to others as much as possible.
  • Our plan is to share the work and the benefit of “Family Night” on Wednesday nights. Family Night is where we run AWANA for kids, EP Students for youth, and a variety of classes for adults. Meaning, those who are attending Followers Church will be encouraged to attend and serve in these ministries.
  • Our plan is to spend 9 months (or longer) in the same building as Eastpoint while we grow and develop the core of Followers Church. Around Easter 2018, we will be asking people to make a decision about their involvement and then begin launch plans for a new location (somewhere in the 99206 zip code south of 32nd Avenue) as we better understand what our needs are and what is available.

About our beliefs

  • God // Father, Son and the Holy Spirit – We believe that there is one God who has eternally existed in three separate persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge God as the one true creator who alone is worthy of our worship.
  • Jesus // The Son of God – We believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, ministered to hurting people, and that he died on a cross for our sins. We affirm that three days after his death, Jesus was raised back to life.
  • Holy Spirit // Gods transforming presence – We believe that the Holy Spirit is God’s personal, transforming, empowering presence. We affirm that every believer receives the Spirit at salvation. However, we also believe that we must continually be filled by the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18), and that the evidence of His filling is power to be a follower.
  • The Bible // The Holy Scriptures – We affirm that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, are God’s inspired Word and therefore base all of our messages, trainings, and classes on it’s principles and doctrines.
  • The Church // The People of God – We believe that the Church consists of those who’ve trusted in Jesus and have been saved by grace through faith alone. We can’t earn His grace through religious activity or trying to be good enough. We affirm that all believers are called to be followers who make disciples while in the process of being transformed into Jesus’ image and character.
  • Mankind // People – We believe that all people are lost in their sins and need to be saved by God’s epic grace. God offers grace, redemption and restoration to all who confess their sin and seek His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Regardless of whether or not a person is a follower of Jesus, they must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with the doctrines of the Bible.
  • Marriage // Sexuality – We believe that marriage joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in the Bible. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We also affirm that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagreement with one’s biological sex, is wrong and breaks the heart of God.

When you get here

  • We are currently sharing a building with Eastpoint Church so the first thing you should expect is to see are our signs guiding you to where we are meeting.
  • Coffee… You’re more than welcome to bring your own but we’ll start brewing it early for you.
  • To drop off your kids at EP Kids (if you have kids). Check-in is fast and easy, even if you’re new. Keeping your kids with you is cool too but we want to eliminate distractions to you and to others as much as possible.
  • A modern worship experience, and message, that is geared for adults. We use contemporary music, lights, camera’s and videos to create an environment where we can address the issues we all face in a practical way. (Services are about an hour long.)
  • Grace… No matter who you are, what you’ve done or how you currently identify yourself, you will be loved and welcomed.
  • To be motivated. Sometimes that might feel a little more like a nudge but it is our desire that every person who comes to Followers Church leaves with purpose.
