OUR PURPOSES

We are a “Purpose Driven” church in that we believe there are 5 purposes that the church must pursue in response to the great command and the great commission. Everything we believe and do as followers of Jesus can be traced back to these purposes He has given us.

The Great Command

“The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” (Jesus ~ Mark 12:29–31. NLT)

The Great Commission

“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Jesus ~ Matthew 28:18–20. NLT)

Love | Gods desire is that we would love Him with our whole being and then extend that love to ourselves and to others. To do so requires Faith in God and a willingness to Obey

Grow | God’s desire is that we would make disciples, or, help people find and follow Jesus. We do that by teaching them how to grow as a follower in the way we Learn from God and then Leadothers through modeling.

Serve | God’s desire is that all of us would serve one another by functioning within the specific role He has designed for us within the body (the church). To do so requires us to embrace Gods process, or Order of doing things, and a willingness to Work.

Connect | God’s desire is that our lives would impact others by being interconnected with them, both in the church and in the world. That requires Empathy and a commitment to Relationships.

Go | God’s desire is for us to go wherever He leads us so that we can bring the Good News to those we meet. That requires a willingness to Share with others anything that God asks of us. Whether that be our time, our resources, or our reasons for trusting in Him.
